Learn English: Behavior and the Present Perfect Tense - Course Assessment

This free online English course explains important grammar and the rules of etiquette used in various social contexts.

Learn English: Behavior and the Present Perfect Tense

Each language has specific forms of greetings and rules of etiquette. This English course explores the standard greetings and gestures expected by English culture in various situations and explains what is perceived as good or bad manners. Study the grammar rules for the past simple and present perfect tense and learn how to use ‘adverbs of time’ to practice what you have learned through reading, writing, and speaking English.

To understand and converse in a new language easily, you need a solid foundation in vocabulary and grammar rules. It strengthens your skills, making you more confident and experienced in English. The first section introduces you to everyday greetings and gestures English speakers use before comparing examples of good and bad manners.
The course then explains the use of the past simple tense to describe actions that occurred in the past. Learn how to construct basic sentences such as 'John visited France last year' and use regular and irregular verbs in the past tense. We then demonstrate how to ask simple questions like 'Did John go to the party last night?' We introduce the 'past participle,' that part of a verb that indicates a completed action. Discover when to use the present perfect tense to establish a connection between the past and present and announce new information or recent events. We explain how 'adverbs of time' like 'soon' and 'lately' change verbs and indicate when things happen.
Our final section cements your learning with reading and listening comprehensions, speaking practice videos, and writing exercises. These build on what you have learned through the previous topics. Audio clips help to improve your pronunciation of English words to quickly allow you to try out your new skills in conversation. English is a diverse language used internationally for business and pleasure, so enroll in these classes to master etiquette and take your skills to the next level.
